What these comments are

Anything I post on social media or other public platforms (FB, LinkedIn, Reddit) is general information about how Australian migration law and policy operate. It is written for a general audience and does not take account of your visa history, your documents or your circumstances, none of which I have seen.

Initial consultations

Where a public comment amounts to advice within the meaning of paragraph 276(1)(b) of the Migration Act 1958, it is given as an initial consultation under section 43 of the Code of Conduct, free of charge and without a service agreement. An initial consultation covers a single exchange on a single matter. Anything beyond that, including continuing discussion of your circumstances or any work on an application, requires formal engagement under a service agreement.

Accuracy and currency

Migration law, policy settings, occupation lists, income thresholds and state nomination criteria change frequently and often without notice. Comments reflect my understanding at the time of posting and may be out of date when you read them. Errors and omissions are possible. Confirm the current position on the Department of Home Affairs website, or with a registered practitioner, before acting.

The Consumer Guide published by the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority sets out what you can expect from a registered agent and how to make a complaint. A copy is available here. It is provided to anyone who may be regarded as a client or potential client.
