VISITOR VISA AUSTRALIA

VISITOR VISA (subclass 600)

The Visitor Visa is designed for individuals seeking a temporary stay for purposes such as tourism, visiting family, or conducting short-term business visitor activities. This visa is broken down into five distinct streams (Visitor, Sponsored Family, Business Visitor, Frequent Traveller, and Approved Destination Status) each catering to slightly different needs and circumstances. Depending on the stream granted, the visa permits either a single entry or multiple entries, with a maximum stay of up to 12 months per visit.

While holding this visa, you may undertake eligible business visitor activities (if applying under that stream), and study or training is generally permitted for a maximum duration of three months. However, applicants must note that working is strictly prohibited in most cases. Applications can be lodged from either inside or outside Australia, though certain streams have restrictions on where you may apply. It is also important to understand that if the visa is granted, it may include a condition requiring you to depart Australia before applying for any other visa.

To be eligible, all applicants must meet health and character standards, demonstrate that they are a Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE), and prove they have sufficient funds to support their stay. Specific stream requirements also apply, such as needing an Australian sponsor for the Sponsored Family stream or being on an approved tour for the Approved Destination Status stream.
